A Time of Fear

Dear Christian the times they are a’changing.  This is a time of spiritual danger.  This is a time of troubled hearts.  This is a time of great insecurity.  And this is a time of fear.  Yet we must be definite.  God is not the author of fear.  “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear...”  All alarm, anxiety, foreboding and dismay are outside the perimeters of faith. II Timothy 1:7
As we trust in God we come to possess an amazing God-confidence that reigns over our lives. “I know the Lord is always with me.  He is helping me.  God’s mighty power supports me.” Acts 2:25  Besides awesome confidence God also supplies the believer with peace, the opposite of fear.  “I am leaving you with a gift- peace of mind and heart!  And the peace I give isn’t fragile like the peace the world gives.  So don’t be troubled or afraid.”  John 14:27
Today we face overwhelming challenges.  We need strength and coping ability for daily problems and difficulties.  I love the verse that simply states, “I would have fainted unless I believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”  God’s goodness includes His kindness, generosity, compassion, perfect integrity and much more.  These expressions of God’s character allow us to live a life secure in Him.  In addition, let us view an eternal perspective that sees beyond today.  “So we do not look at what we can see right now, the troubles all around us; but we look forward to the joys in heaven which we have not yet seen.” II Corinthians 4:18  This friends is our trial run.  May we be found faithful.
As our lives unfold we can be alert and wise to see the need to turn to God with ever increasing zeal and passion.  “Keep your eyes open for spiritual danger; stand true to the Lord.”1 Corinthians 16:13  Let us remember our Lord’s words when we are tempted to doubt God’s care.  “Why are you so fearful?  Don’t you even yet have confidence in me?” Mark 4:40  Christians all over the world, let us join hands and declare, “I will trust and not be afraid, for the Lord is my strength and song, he is my salvation.”  Isaiah 12:2  Amen
